Digital course for seed inspectors
Collaboration partner: Seed Control and Certification Institute (SCCI) Zambia
Funding: USAID & Feed the Future through Catholic Relief Services (CRS)
Target audience: Professionals wishing to qualify as seed inspectors
Sector: Agriculture
The subject matter experts of SCCI worked closely with Mwabu to develop the content for their online seed inspector training course. In addition to their day-to-day duties, this dedicated team updated existing materials, wrote new materials and gathered countless photographs to include in their new digital course.
Mwabu provided the e-learning and design expertise to transform this rich content into streamlined engaging digital modules. The set of 23 modules, topic assessments and final theory examinations form the theory component of the seed inspector course. The course is completed by a practical component and examination. As a USAID-funded product, all digital materials are fully compliant with Section 18 accessibility requirements.
In addition to the digital training materials, Mwabu set up a Moodle Learning Management System (LMS) to host the content, track learner progress and record results. We also provided full onboarding training to allow the SCCI team to manage the platform and perform minor content updates as required.
With positive feedback from within and beyond Zambia’s borders, the SCCI and CRS teams are optimistic that opportunities may arise to allow for extension of the course to include more crop specialisations as well as translate the content to make it accessible to a wider audience.
