Mwabu was met with enthusiasm and delight by staff from schools across South Africa’s Free State province at a recent, successful and well-attended pitch.
A total of 140 people, made up of teachers and principals from six schools, attended the presentation which took place in the rural town of QwaQwa – a place three-and-a-half hours’ drive from both Johannesburg and Durban.
Didi Bryant and Oliver Nudds, from the Mwabu South Africa Business Development team, and Le’Anne Ponen, Mwabu Senior Educationalist, all spoke at the event.
In the presentation, the team demonstrated our e-learning content and told the audience about Mwabu; our goals, services, what we can offer and the impact that our products can have.
Mwabu is currently looking to run pilots in the six schools which would begin in January and would reach out to 48 teachers and 3,600 students.
The principals and teachers responded well to the pitch and gave great feedback afterwards with some asking when they could start the program and when training would happen. Some Foundation Phase teachers also attended the presentation and were highly engaged.
Le’Anne also carried out activities to demonstrate strategies included in Mwabu teacher training, such as the effectiveness of large classroom management, which the teachers also enjoyed.
Schools that sign up will receive training courses in our products and devices plus a complete set of standard and bespoke change management courses. Mwabu will also work with teachers on personalised action plans and to boost their skills.
Staff will have access to our intelligent interconnected network of teachers, learners and parents to share good practice across borders.
Didi Bryant said: “It was a hot, dusty day with a great turn-out despite that, and people truly appreciated the fact we'd driven as far as we had to talk to them.”
